Over 635 acres of woodlands, meadows, and fresh and salt water marshes encompass this northeast Queens park. Alley Pond Environmental Center is open year-round with animal, science and nature programs for children, adults and families.

Early Childhood Programs are offered on weekdays (pre-registration is required) for kids from 18 months to four and a half years.

Afterschool Programs for kids ages four to ten are offered on Mondays and Wednesdays. Call for current class fees.

Birthday parties at the Center can be booked for children ages two to 12, and include an indoor, age appropriate discussion about nature and the season (the birthday child can select some animals for his or her friends to meet and learn about), a guided nature walk (weather permitting), materials and instruction for an age-appropriate, nature-related craft chosen by birthday child for all participants to make and take home. This craft should be selected by parent and/or child two weeks prior to party. Use of classroom area for refreshments (refrigerator available). Parents bring the refreshments. Parties should be booked well in advance.

Parties may be held on Saturdays or Sundays (some afterschool and holidays are also possible) from 10am-12n, 1pm-3pm, or 4pm-6pm. Cost is $190 for up to 15 children; $10 for each additional child (maximum: 30).
