The Alliance Francaise, one of Chicago's oldest cultural and educational institutes, offers classes and events in French for both adults and children.
Courses for children are divided by age group and fluency, and vary by season. Kids can learn "doing", joining First Steps into French, Interactive French, include Matinees Chez Kids, Story and Movie Hours, or a Family Cooking Class. The younger set can sign up for courses that introduce children to new sounds and encourage parents to share in the experience. For the most current schedule of activities and classes, refer to the Alliance's website.
Teachers are specially trained to teach the French language to young children.
The summer camp program, Chez Kids Summer Camp, offers seven weeks of discovery of French language and culture through various entertaining workshops and two French language classes a week. Activities include arts and crafts, song, dance, music, games, sports, cooking, field trips, and more for children ages 6 to 13. The seven-week program runs Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm. Call or visit the website for this year's dates.
