LA's American Girl Store is a lot like its Chicago progenitor and the New York branch: a doll-loving little girl's dream come true. And why not? This unique store has two floors full of American Girl dolls and paraphernalia - clothes and accessories for the dolls, matching clothes for real girls, and books about the dolls. Not to mention a hair salon and doll hospital.

At the cafe, girls may dine with their dolls using doll-size high chairs that attach to the tables. The menu is pretty sophisticated and includes fish, chicken, steak, and pizza. The AG regulars we talked to raved about the desserts. Lunch, tea, and dinner seatings are available seven days a week. Brunch is available on weekends.

Yes, AG does parties. Party packages include a 2-course meal, a cake, and goody bags.

AG also hosts special events, such as Play Alongs, which change monthly for kids ages three to five, usually on Wednesday mornings. Reservations are required.

Reservations for the cafe are necessary; this place is very popular. To explore American Girl Place without doing the cafe can easily take an hour or two, as there are lots of historical displays as well as the mind-blowing array of doll accessories.

Although it's an easy walk from the parking garage, why not take The Grove Trolley, for a more memorable arrival?

The show was wonderful....the food was not. WAY WAY overpriced for the quality. The service was friendly yet harried. My girls thought it was cool that their dolls sat in their own seat, but they hardly touched the food. The complaints I heard were that the chicken was tough and dry and the pizza was cold...........so there ya have it Go for the Show ...Go somewhere else to eat...ANYWHERE!!!!

American RIPPED OFF!

We suprised our 8 yr-old today with a trip to AG LA. She loved it and had a hard time deciding what she wanted to do/get. We didn't go to the show or cafe, we will save that for a summer day. We did treat our doll to the hair salon. The hairdo was cute and worth the $ for the smiles it got. One thing I noticed were the employees visiting among themselves a lot. I had to say "excuse me" several times throughout the store to get through their conversations. That was my only complaint. With the amount of money we are spending in the shop, I would hope for a little more attentive service. Although, in all the service was good. We will absolutely be going back and dropping another chunk of change.
