It is unfortunate that negative reviews are being posted here regarding Master Wallace. Master Wallace met with a family regarding potential lessons for their child with Down's Syndrome. He had reservations regarding his ability to teach the child, and actually offered FREE private lessons on the first Sunday of every month from 9:30am to 10:30am to see how the child responded to lessons and whether his lessons would be beneficial. There are several witnesses that confirm this conversation, yet this family continues to post defamatory remarks on the internet. If the family wishes to discuss this further, they should respond to the email sent to their yahoo account. They already deleted their yelp reviews, they should delete this one too.
Further, it is should be noted that Master Wallace is the head instructor of Amkor Karate Upper Darby, not Amkor Karate Bryn Mawr, so these reviews are listed under the wrong school.
Master Wallace has been my son's karate instructor for several years. I know for a fact that he teaches children with disabilities, including autistic children. He is an incredible teacher and an incredibly kind man. I think JUSTICE4MYSON must have misunderstood Master Wallace and should really think twice before trying to tear down his fine reputation anonymously on the internet.
I was TOLD BY SAM WALLACE THAT MY SON WHO HAS DOWN SYNDROME COULD NOT BE TAUGHT BY HIM BECAUSE OF HIS CONDITION. HE ALSO SAID THAT HE COULD TEACH A QUADRIPLEGIC FASTER THEN SOMEONE WITH DOWN SYNDROME BECAUSE WHAT HE DOES IS MORE MENTAL. WITH SAM WALLACE HAVING A DEGREE IN SPECIAL EDUCATION YOU WOULD THINK HE WOULD OF BEEN SHOWED MORE COMPASSION THEN HE DID. HE DIDN'T EVEN SPEAK LET ALONE TALK TO MY SON. EVERY CHILD DESERVES A CHANCE AND SHOULD NOT BE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST BECAUSE OF THEIR DISABILITIES. WHAT IS THE POINT OF SAM WALLACE SPOUTING HIS RESUME ALL OVER YOUR WEBSITE AND ALL OF HIS WONDERFUL CAPABILITIES AND THEN TURN AROUND AND JUDGE MY SON AND COUNT HIM OUT BEFORE HE EVEN GAVE HIM A CHANCE???
There are several Amkor schools in the area. Master Wallace's school is an Amkor school on Route 3, near Havertown. He is an amazing teacher. He can get children to focus and succeed even if they are not athletic. His adult students seem to love his classes too. If you are considering martial arts, you need to try Master Sam Wallace.
Master Sam Wallace runs a tight ship. And while he is a demanding instructor, he infuses his class with just the right amount of playfulness (competing for pokemon cards!) These kids learn Korean Karate and they take it seriously. This is not a fancy shmancy studio. Quality teaching is what it's all about. And the kids take care of their bodies while learning respect, discipline, and making real friends. Master Wallace is also a special ed teacher so he has experience working with special needs students.
Our son is in his second year with Master Wallace at the Upper Darby location. It's been REAL martial arts with the focus and discipline training we were hoping for. There is a genuine sense of commraderie among the kids, too.
