Amtrak stops in Seattle at
King Street Station.
Three trains operate out of Seattle: the
Amtrak Cascades (Vancouver BC/Seattle/Portland OR/Eugene-Springfield OR);
Coast Starlight (Seattle/Portland/Oakland CA/Los Angeles); and
Empire Builder (Seattle/Portland/Chicago IL). A trip north on the train is particularly beautiful, since much of the route through the Puget Sound area hugs the coast.
No tickets are sold on the train, but
tickets may be purchased online or at the station. QuikTrak machines (open from 6am-10:30pm) located in the station sell tickets to passengers with a credit card, with certain restrictions. Passengers must provide valid photo ID to buy tickets or check baggage.
Amtrak Cascades'
Schools on Trains program offers discounts for students and their chaperones traveling anywhere between Bellingham, WA, and Portland, Oregon. See the website for details.
