Anchorage Christian Schools (ACS) strives to provide an environment in which each student may develop to his or her optimum potential spiritually, mentally, and physically, as well as socially, culturally, and vocationally. ACS offers programs for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children through 12th grade. ACS strives to work hand in hand with the home and church to provide the environment, instruction, and opportunities for service to educate and train Christian leaders who function successfully in today's church and world. Elementary Curriculum: ACS places great emphasis on the basics of education, providing strong phonics and mathematics programs. Weekly classes in art, library, physical education and music are provided. Private piano instruction or piano lab instruction is available in grades one through six, and band instrument and orchestra instruction is available in grades four through six. A computer lab is offered to students beginning in second grade. Students are also involved in a weekly chapel worship service during which they pray, sing, recite Scripture, and are exposed to Biblical truths through a wide variety of speakers and programs. Secondary Curriculum: Junior and Senior High students have the same basic guidelines for discipline, dress code, and class periods. They also have the same basic core courses of math, English, social studies, science, and Bible. At the junior high level, electives in keyboarding, choir and band, physical education, and Wilderness studies are included. At the senior high level, the elective choices expand to include learning Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint), Spanish I, II & III, orchestra, band, choir, drama, speech, creative writing, SAT Prep, physical education, office aide and teacher aide opportunities, and yearbook.
