Don't be scared off by the boisterous crowds on weekends: there's a reason that the 80-acre Anthony C. Beilenson Park (known formerly as Balboa Park) is a popular spot for barbecues, parties, and picnics. Visitors can rent a paddle-boat (weekends only), fish, feed the ducks, take a stroll around the lake (on wide pathways suitable for strollers and baby joggers), or plop the kids in one of two well-stocked playgrounds (the smaller one is tot-sized).
The park is also referred to sometimes as Lake Balboa.
