Unique from many other museums, Antique Gas & Steam is a working collection; 95% of the collections on display are operational.
Located on 40 acres of rolling farm land in Guajome Regional Park in San Diego County, the Museum gives a feel for early 18th century life through exhibits, ongoing restoration projects, and live demonstrations.
The museum's collection includes over 20,000 items, ranging from archival materials to steam and gas powered engines and horse drawn equipment used in farming, construction, and the industrial trades. Most items are housed in structures, the better to keep them preserved.
As you wander around the grounds, you'll encounter a blacksmith and wheelwright shop, farmhouse with a parlor, gristmill, 1/3 scale train and a fun playground where the kids can let off some steam of their own.
The museum comes to life during the third and fourth weekends of June and October, through weekend events that demonstrate how life was in the early days.
