About Arabia Steamboat Museum
The museum displays a collection of personal belongings and frontier memorabilia recovered in 1989 from the Arabia Steamboat which sank in the Missouri River in 1856 with a 200-ton cargo. Kids can marvel at the clothing and shoes, medicines, guns, bottled fruits and vegetables, jewelry and perfume, as well as the six-ton stern and a paddlewheel preserved with a full-size reproduction of the main deck. Guided tours include a theater presentation describing the excavation effort, and visitors can also view a working preservation lab.
