Arch Creek Park was created around a natural limestone bridge formation that once formed part of an important Indian trail. First by the now-extinct Tequesta tribe, then by Seminoles; the bridge is a true wonder. The park has a museum/nature center that contains artifacts left by native people as they passed over the arched bridge. Miami-Dade Parks naturalists are available on Saturday mornings to point out native birds, animals, and insects and identify the many different trees that grow there. The nature trail walk takes a very acceptable 30 minutes - just enough time to tire an eight year old! Guided walks are offered Saturdays from 10am-11am. Families can participate in archeological digs (see our calendar for dates), and maybe even uncover an arrowhead or two in the process. Items found here are displayed in the small museum. The park is a Florida State historical preserve.
