The story of William Tell might inspire the kids to take up this great sport, and with this indoor range within shouting distance of Boston proper, it won't be a problem giving them a taste of how bows and arrows really work. Every Sunday is Family Day, when two or more members of the same family can shoot at a discounted rate of only $8 per hour per person, including equipment. Equipment Rental (Recurve Bow, Arrows, and Armguard) runs $3/hr. Parties can be held her for a group rate of $12 per person (10 person minimum, 15 maximum). The program is under the direction of a certified archery instructor and lasts 90 minutes, which includes a safety lecture, shooting form demonstration, and of course, bows, arrows, and protective gear at no charge. Children shoot at balloons for last 15 minutes of party and have the opportunity to earn prizes. No food is allowed, so you'll want to consider booking that portion of the celebration at home. Three weeks' notice is suggested for weekend parties. Archery USA offers Elite Archers Jr. Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) for kids ages 8 through 18. The program starts with the basics of good form and through a series of weekly mini-achievement tournaments, archers progress through 10 ranks towards the rank of "Gold Olympian."
