About Ardenwood Historic Farm
A visit to Ardenwood is a journey back to a prosperous, 19th-century country estate, including a beautiful mansion and its elaborate Victorian Gardens. Exhibits include agricultural practices from the 1870s to the present, demonstrating the transition from horse-powered to horsepower. Since Ardenwood is a working farm, the daily activities change from season to season.
On Sundays, stop by the country kitchen and sample a cookie or a biscuit straight from the wood-burning stove to see why cooking outside always makes food taste better.
Fresh picked organic vegetables are sold just inside the main gate. The stand is open daily from late May through October.
Special events include an old-fashioned Independence Day celebration, fall harvest festivals, special music concerts, recreations of Victorian social events, and Ardenwood's Victorian Christmas in December.
Tips
Certain activities can get messy, so bring extra wipes and a change of clothes.
Getting There
In Fremont, exit Highway 84 at Ardenwood/Newark Boulevard. Go north on Ardenwood Boulevard. The entrance is just north of Highway 84.

- We have been here a couple of times. I'd say avoid when they have their big events, as it gets too crowded, but on a regular weekend (or all weekdays), this is really a sweet place. We have driven by many times and were not impressed from the road, but it is a lot larger than you might think, and a great place for Toddlers. Plenty of space to roam around, in a very peaceful environment. My son loved the animals, and they had some great picnic spots. It seemed so quiet, that alone was a nice change of pace from everyday life.
