About Art Institute of Chicago
Young visitors to the Art Institute of Chicago are often captivated by the museum before even entering the doors when they are greeted at the entrance by two large, endearing bronze lions! Inside the museum, which boasts one of the world's great art collections, La Grande Jatte by Seurat, American Gothic by Grant Wood, and many, many other well-known, well-loved pieces can be found displayed throughout the many galleries, hallways, and showcases.
The Kraft Center at the Art Institute offers numerous exhibits and creative, hands-on activities and workshops for children and families.
Enjoy a meal surrounded by art. The Café offers self-service dining, including a kid-favorite dessert station with a full array of homemade treats. The Garden Restaurant boasts table-side service, with a full bar and a wine list. Reservations at the Garden restaurant are accepted but not required. Call 312.553.9675. From late May through early fall, weather permitting, the Garden Restaurant extends into McKinlock Court for shady alfresco dining.

CityPass: The Art Institute is a participant in CityPass, the most convenient way to visit six city attractions. Tickets are combined in an easy booklet for one low price, with no waiting in ticket lines!

Please Note: The Columbus Drive entrance is closed to the public during the construction of a new building addition to the museum.

Tips
At the Chicago Public Libraries, request a Kraft Great Kids Museum Passport good for free family admission to the Art Institute. It's just like checking out a book, so don't forget to return it after you visit! Or, visit the Museum on Thursday evenings from 5pm to 8pm, when admission is free for everyone.

- Expensive for tourists and poorer folks which is a fast growing number these days. I recommend to out-of-towners to go to Washington DC where you can view wonderful art for FREE.
