about Arts in Action Visual Art Program:

Arts in Action, founded by artist and award winning art educator Angela Tripi-Weiss, is a process oriented visual arts program that demystifies the process of drawing, painting, and sculpting in a logical and analytical way, empowering children to create with confidence. Each lesson introduces the concept of one or more skills and concepts, along with materials and techniques for implementation.

Classes are available for students of all ages, from toddlers through adults. Kids with special needs are welcome.

Summer Art Camp participants take a weekly trip to a museum, create art in Central Park, and work in the studio, exploring a variety of fine art skills, concepts, and materials. Camp is open to kids ages five through 12 and is offered in two-week sessions that meet Monday to Thursday, from 1pm to 4:30pm.

Arts in Action also offers Portfolio Development for tweens and teens interested in creating a fine art portfolio to present for entry into specialized high schools (such as LaGuardia) and colleges.

My 8 year old daughter is on her second semester with Angela and loves it! Angela is fantastic with kids and very responsive to parents. When my daughter was struggling with her self-portrait, I simply emailed Angela and Angela has worked magic. I can see my daughter's confidence in her artistic ability blossoming. Angela is one of those rare teachers who can teach to each child. The program is terrific and I highly recommend it!

This is an incredibly well thought out program, which not only teaches kids the building blocks of artistic expression, but is very respectful of children and makes it fun! It's all about empowerment -- they learn to trust themselves, and they're given the tools to express their individual vision. You see it in the art shows -- everybody's piece is beautiful and completely different. How many places do you get that these days?

Angela gives children the tools to understand and express that which is hidden by words yet comprises so much of who we are and how we relate to others. Children adore her and the process she uses to empower their awareness and talent.

Angela Tripi-Weiss has inspired my 7-year-old son over the years to become a true artist. She focuses on the fundamental skills necessary for looking at and creating art; he regularly discusses horizon lines, vanishing points, and tertiary colors, among others. He has done both the classes and summer camp and has enjoyed both. He feels supported and encouraged and always has looked forward to going to class.

My 9 year old son attended Arts in Action's SUMMER ART CAMP and had a ball! He loved going to the museum to see the art, and sketching it. He couldn't wait until the next day when he could start to create his own reinterpretation of the art he saw in the AIA art studio. Will also loved going to Central Park to sketch with all kinds of materials. I was amazed at all he learned while enjoying is time in this camp. He loved it so much, he asked me to sign him up for their after school art programs which he is now enjoying as much as he did the camp! This program is a win, win. Great exposure to how artists expressed themselves, and how Will can do the same by learning hte skills fine artist employed. Can't recamend this camp enough.

It's fantastic to find a REAL FINE ART program for my children. Both of them love going, and truly learned to draw, paint, and critically think through the skills incorporated into every lesson. Their tutors mentioned they see how the attention building skills these art lessons foster affected their learning. Best part, they love it!

This is a fabulous fine arts program. I am so grateful that it is not the arts & crafts curriculum that is taught in the schools. I am astounded by the development of my daughter's fine motor skills under the tutelage of Arts-in-Action, and her ability to express herself creatively.
