Au Pairs speak English and have an interest in coming to the US to care for children and learn about the American way of life. Upon arrival, they attend an orientation and training program and receive extensive instruction covering child development, household safety, fire and crime prevention, and CPR.
The government designated au pair program provides families with legal live-in childcare for a period of one year at a cost of about $250 per week including program fees, transportation, and stipend. Host families must also contribute up to $500 for the au pair's educational needs.
