The Avalon is a European-style boutique hotel, situated just minutes away from Penn Station and the Empire State Building. While this hotel has not traditionally been wildly kid-friendly, it is now making an earnest effort to attract families, and a number of kid-pleasing efforts are under consideration. The neighborhood is nothing to write home about - the street the hotel sits on is nondescript and lacks the charm you'd find in other parts of town. But the hotel lobby is lovely and welcoming, with internet access available in the club room at the end of the lobby. In-room movies are available, although the only non-network kid-friendly channel at this time is the Discovery Channel. Cribs and high chairs are on site and can be provided on request.
