Grown ups become little kids upon entering Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, a huge sporting goods store that is truly an outdoorsman's definition of heaven.
The store can also be an adventurous family outing, with plenty to do and see, even if you've never even picked up a fishing pole.
The 186,000 square foot wonderland is part museum, part art gallery, part entertainment and conservation center. The most popular attraction is the 21,000 gallon aquarium stocked with trophy fish, including an 80-pound blue catfish, sturgeons, stripers, largemouth bass, trout, pike, gar, bowfin, and many others. Don't miss the 2pm daily fish feeding: Kids are given worms to throw into the tank!
Rest and have coffee from the Starbucks cafe and be entertained in front of the real rock climbing wall as kids of all ages take on the challenge ascending 35' to the top of the wall. Kids (those 42" or taller) always climb free.
Shopping is also a sport here, with everything you need for almost any outdoor excursion. Fishing, hunting, camping, and water sports are all very well represented.

tips:
Check out the fish feeding every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 2pm. The staff discuss more than 15 various species of fresh water fish including an 82lb Blue Catfish plus other trophy fish.
getting there:
located on the northeast corner of Interstate 70 and Quebec Street. You may use the Quebec Street exit either direction off of I-70 and Southbound I-270. There is no exit to the center when traveling I-270 Northbound. You must stay on I-70 westbound and exit on Quebec Street North.
