Battery Gardens has no
kids' menu, but it does offer an informal menu, with items like chicken fingers, fries, pizza, and pastas - the secret is knowing you can ask! It does have
high chairs), and it's a great place to sit and watch the
Hudson River flow by. You might event point out that three bodies of water - the Hudson, the East River, and the Atlantic Ocean - all converge in front of the restaurant! The
Grill (as opposed to the very proper restaurant) is probably the better choice for kids - it's right on the water and the wrought iron tables and chairs are disaster proof (messy spills are not a problem). The
Statue of Liberty is at waving distance in the harbor, and the
ferries float back and forth. In colder months, the Grill moves inside to the second floor. The
bathrooms have smoked glass doors, so you can watch your little ones wash their hands without doing them the indignity of going in with them. The Ladies' room has a small ledge suitable for
changing diapers (bring a pad), and is clean and amply boothed.
