Bay Area Learning Center has wonderful people at the location. They work one-on-one with your child in tutoring or even in a class environment. I have previously worked for BALC and Absolutely loved it. I had the pleasure to work with the younger children in a class environment, also teenagers in a one-on-one tutoring session. Yes I was a College Student. The parents of all the children I tutored and taught classes to were aware of the fact I was Not Certified. With the economy the way it is, having someone who knows the subjects very well and is taking the same courses at a college level, gives the parent the ablilty to be able to get a discount or even help the parents to be able to put their child in more than one subject if needed. I worked with many children at BALC and had a blast doing so. In the time I was at BALC, there were many children that came in and had a GREAT experience just as I did! Being able to see children coming in with struggles, and finishing knowing what they need to know and more... is a Great feeling and every teacher there can say they have and can accomplish that ablilty. So any parents out there that are worried that there are "uncertified" teachers at BALC should have no worries. It is your choice whether your child goes with a Certified Teacher, College Student, or High School Student. No matter which one you go with you will have no worries because BALC only hires the best and always will. If your interested all I can say is give your child then chance to go there whether it be for a Summer camp, a class, or tutoring. And see the outcome your child has and you will know first hand how Great everyone there really is with your children.

My daughter has been going to Bay Area Learning Center for a little over a year. She was going to a Montessori school near by when we let her attend a camp offered by Bay Area Learning Center...and she never went back to the Montessori school. My daughter, who was two at the time, started saying she didn't want to go back to her "old school" (the Montessori school). We began sending her to Bay Area Learning Center and she LOVES going to school now. She can count, say the days of the week, and she has even began to read sight-books. We drive all the way from Baytown just so she can attend this school, that's how happy we are with it. They are very very hands-on,we get constant updates on current activities and progress, and the teachers are very friendly. I would suggest this school to anyone.

I am one of the owners of Bay Area Learning Center and a certified teacher. To defend the comment about false advertising, we do offer a variety of discounted rates for tutoring. We do hire certified teachers and use only certified teachers for our parents that choose that option. But some parents are not able to pay for a certified teacher and prefer to choose a high school student or a college student for a tutorial session at a discounted rate. Due to the economy and being down the street from Clear Lake High School, we have added on three different price ranges for tutoring based upon the tutor that is chosen by the parent. We have high school tutors for $35.00 per hour and college tutors for $40.00 per hour and our certified at $50.00 per hour. We also do hire our receptionist and our classrooom aides and office help from the colleges. We do put out these signs at the colleges frequently to get the best help at our academy and to help support the community. I truly do not believe that is false advertisement. We are simply local certified teachers that are helping our community and helping our parents by allowing them to choose the best option for their children. We hope that parents give us a chance to make a difference with their child and we are always open to defending our advertisement of certified teachers by showing parents the teachers degrees that are on-file at our academy. The directors and staff are professional and committed to helping children.

I verified that the tutor was certified.(in fact everyone I talked with at Bay Area Learning Center was certified) I really liked that the center worked so closely with me and my child's teacher. Besides that similarity, the Bay Area Learning Center stands out beyond all the other schools, as the best! Bay Area Learning Centers Marketing materials all include verbage that teachers are certified, and in fact the director holds teacher certification. However, I recently came across flyers that they are hiring and in big letters at the bottom was stated NO TEACHING CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED. They are obviously hiring in cheap help and tryig to pass it off as legit.
