Located in downtown Miami, next to Bayside Marketplace, this park hosts many musical and holiday events throughout the year.
At the south end of the park, adjacent to the Tina Hills Pavilion, families can find the Lee & Tina Hills Playground, a play area designed for kids ages five through 12. Open from sunrise to sundown, the playground includes a fun, Florida-themed play sculpture featuring a dolphin, turtle, and manatee.
At the Miami Skylift Balloon, which can be found at the Mildred & Claude Pepper Fountain, visitors can climb aboard a tethered balloon and rise 500 feet into the air where they can see a 360-degree view of downtown Miami.
Bayfront is also home to the The Flying Trapeze School, where adventurous souls of all ages can experience the thrill of flying through the air - under the supervision of professional trapeze artists - for as little as $10. The facility also hosts parties and classes for all levels of "flyers".
Although Bayfront is a public park, it also operates as a special event venue and features a large number of both paid and free shows throughout the year.
tips:
If you're coming here for an event, use public transportation (see getting there). The traffic and parking are crazy in this area! If you must drive, remember that for events, the municipal (and lots of non-municipal) lots are open for parking. You'll pay a little more, but parking closer to the event is well worth the peace of mind.
getting there:
From the south, take I-95 north to Biscayne Blvd. exit. Continue straight off exit ramp to dead end and turn left (this is Biscayne Blvd.). The park is on the right. From the north, take I-95 south to I-395 east and exit Biscayne Blvd. Turn right on Biscayne Blvd. and drive south to NE 3rd Street, the park is on your left. By rail, take the Metrorail to Government Center, then the Metromover to the Bayfront Park stop. Walk east, then south, to the park.
