Bear Creek Park is also known to locals as Sombrero Hat Park, thanks to the sombrero-shaped slide that has been a fixture in the park for over 20 years. The slide got to stay when the playgournd was completely renovated and expanded in the summer of 2009; new playground features include The Dig - a "fossil" and "artifact" sand digging area - swings, water play, climbing walls and boulders, and natural play areas.
Almost 100 acres, the park is divided by Bear Creek. Throughout the park, visitors will find a bicycle/pedestrian pathway, football field, fishing, horseshoe pit, softball fields, community gathering spaces, outdoor classrooms, a basketball court, soccer field, and extended picnic areas.
