Bear Run Nature Reserve, owned and protected by Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, provides a rich outdoor experience any season of the year. Visitors are welcome to use the trails for hiking, nature study, photography, backpack camping, snowshoeing, touring, and more. The reserve lies along the western slope of Laurel Ridge, facing the spectacular Youghiogheny River gorge. The waters of Bear Run cascade through rhododendrons, past old-growth hemlocks, and over rocks and boulders producing a spectacular array of rapids and waterfalls. More than 20 miles of marked trails traverse an area of great natural diversity. Frank Lloyd Wright's famous Fallingwater structure is adjacent to the grounds.
