about Beaver Brook Playground:

Part of the Beaver Brook Reservation, Beaver Brook Playground offers fun for all ages. A combination of swings, climbing structures, sand play areas, and other enjoyable diversions makes this a wonderful stop.

Beaver Brook is spread out and composed of different play areas. When you enter the playground, to the left, you'll see a good-sized, sunken sand pit. Younger children, the ones who seem to enjoy sand the most, will have a ball. Think about bringing some sand toys (the ones your child hasn't deemed special to him or her) for some added fun.

The climbing structure, which stretches the width of the play area, has challenges for kids of all ages. Towers, bridges, slides, you name it, are available. Swingers, young and old, may be disappointed to only find four swings; none for infants. That's a tough one for parents with babies. Bring your backpack or baby carrier so you have some hands-free mobility.

A row of several picnic tables at the entrance of the park offer a lovely setting for lunch or a snack. The fact that the area is covered makes it doubly inviting. We have seen people use this space to feed birthday guests cake, ice cream, and pizza after some hard playtime on the playground. No permission is needed to do this, but you may want to have a contingency plan on the off chance that ten other parents have the same idea!

The popularity of the spot in the summer is due, in part, to the large spray pool area. The area is not flat like most, but dotted with boulders for some wet and wild rock climbing. Caveat: we've seen many kids wipe out on the slippery surface. Consider having your children wear rubberized, beach shoes or secure sandals - for safety's sake.

tips:

Do insist on the shoes when the water area calls. The likelihood of a fall on a rock will decrease. A first-aid area and restrooms are located near the climbing structures.
