Twenty-five fallow deer that once roamed Belle Isle are enjoying a new one-acre enclosure and barn at the Belle Isle Nature Zoo. The exhibit is part of a multi-phase project to convert the former nature center on the island into a nature zoo focusing on Michigan wildlife, flora, and fauna.
The facility offers family nature programs on the weekends and nature-based education programs to schools and community groups during the week.
