While horses tend to be a bit large for most NY apartments, horse fans can visit and watch them run at Belmont Park for a song. Kids can also watch the horses work each weekend and on holidays from 7am-9:30am, and can avail themselves of a free backstretch stable tour and paddock show on weekends and holidays through September. The Backyard Area is home to a rubber floored playground and a duck pond, as well as a large number of picnic tables and plenty of food and drink. On nice days, you'll find lots of families sprawled out on blankets for the entire day of racing. Breakfast At Belmont, a full-service trackside breakfast, is also available on weekends and holidays through September. Family Fun Days run every Sunday, from 12n to 4pm, beginning Memorial Day weekend through July 22, with entertainment and activities in Belmont's spacious Backyard Area. Pony rides, petting zoos, face painting, clowns, characters, inflatable bounce fun parks, family shows, and more are offered. One of the joys of summer is Sunset Racing on Fridays, with first post at 3pm. Fridays' live cards end at about 7pm, but then fans can take advantage of free entertainment and Happy Hour prices on food and drink in the Backyard Area.
