Berkeley Central Library is also a designated Historical Landmark. Besides books, the library also offers an extensive selection of audio-books and video recordings for families as well as computers with internet access.

The Central Children's Room offers an ongoing schedule of Baby Bounce, Wiggles and Giggles, and the Saturday morning Wild About Books program, featuring guests, puppetry, and lots of good stories. Baby Bounce and Toddler Time: Nursery rhymes, songs, fingerplays, lap bounces, and very short picture books for children six to 36 months old and their caregivers.

Wiggles and Giggles: Stories, songs, fingerplays and stretches for children three to five years old. Wild About Books: This 45 minute program of stories, songs, and other activities features a special guests or puppet shows. Children's Librarians add their own music, magic and storytelling skills to each week's mix.
