Although she never actually owned the house, Betsy and her husband, John, rented this little house and ran their upholstery business here from 1773 to 1786. Visitors can meet Betsy Ross - played by a costumed actor - and learn what life was like for a tradesperson in the 18th century.
Kids' Kitchen, an
interactive exhibit inside the
Betsy Ross House, allows children to use tools and their imaginations to prepare a meal just as Betsy would have more than two centuries ago. The whole family can enjoy the facility's free programming, which includes demonstrations by colonial crafters, a colonial magician, and fun performances. "Betsy" herself is available during select hours; see the
website for a complete program schedule. Audio tours, with a special version for children, are available for $5, which includes admission.
The
Betsy Ross House gift shop offers a large assortment of souvenirs and unique gift items.
