Middle school for students with supportive families who are likely to slip through the cracks of large public or private schools. Admits students capable of grade-level work with strong teacher recommendations. A full visit and parent interview are required.
The school's science program emphasizes human development and ecological chemistry through lab, field work and technology. Students take a gender-study seminar in grades six and eight. All students participate in outdoor program, which emphasizes development of personal confidence, immediate accountability, athletic, and interpersonal skills. Students rock-climb, kayak, ski, raft, snow-camp, and hike in conjunction with academic field work. Service and field study are encouraged and integrated into all aspects of the curriculum.
Extracurricular activities include student yearbook, debate, literary magazine, art club, and French club.
