Birch is a wonderful school. The faculty is excellent. The small class size and tracks for reading and math in lower school allow all students to thrive. The school has gotten bad press lately due to a few anomalies. But it is truly a gem!
our daughter is almost finished with kindergarten in the 2006-2007 year. the class size is 17 with 2 excellent and caring teachers. the kids are taught the traditional reading, math, spelling etc... in addition, a lot of the focus is on values such as honesty, not stealing, being kind, not bullying etc... they have reading specialists if you need them. nice afterschool activities. a caring school that promotes cooperation between the kids.
Too many kids from other schools that "didn't work out". BWL should not be school of last resort. does have excellent specialist programs if child has learning issues. some behavior issues in lower, middle and upper
...School and Upper School are superior to the Middle School. Although the Middle School trys to suceed in educating their students they, lack in the necassary tools and enviroment to fully educate their students.
