about Bishop Museum:

Spread across several buildings on a large campus, the Bishop Museum includes a planetarium, sizeable natural history collection and Hawaiian and Polynesian artifacts, a sports Hall of Fame, and a fantastic Science Adventure Center with lots of hands-on exhibits.

Coolest for kids is the descent into a "volcano," where visitors learn all about how the Hawaiian islands were created.

Hula demonstrations are performed daily at 11am and 2pm. Each show lasts about 25 minutes, and the program takes place on the Great Lawn Stage in front of Hawaiian Hall.

Note: The Hawaiian Hall and other areas are undergoing renovation and closed until at least Spring, 2008.

tips:

Consider obtaining a family membership, which provides free admission to the museum, planetarium, Hawaii Maritime Center, and Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden, as well as discounts on shopping at the museum and with partners, for just $50/year.
