About Blank Park Zoo
The 49-acre Blank Park Zoo - a winner in the Best Day Camp category of our 2008 Parents' Picks in Des Moines, and nominee in the Best Family Bonding Place category - offers animal encounters, classes for kids and adults, summer camps, tours, an on-site cafe, volunteer opportunities, and special events for families, children, and holidays.
The zoo hosts more than 100 different species and almost 1,500 specimens. Wheelchairs (free) and strollers (single $4; double $6) are available for rental on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tips
Young knitters and crocheters can help the zoo's creatures by providing "nests" for very young wildlife. The nests allow the babes to snuggle together and maintain body temperature, just like nests in the wild!

Located about one mile north of the Highway 65 bypass, two miles east of the airport.
