Maybe it's not like any other store in the world (or maybe it is like a few department stores that come to mind), but Bloomingdale's is certainly an institution unto itself, and for window shopping it's a lot of fun. Kids like the weird knick knacks and trinkets that appear around the holidays, and the toys are expensive but interesting.
Teens can find their department on the second floor; clothes for infants, toddlers, and girls (sizes 4-16) are on eight; and boys' wear is off by its lonesome on the ninth floor.
Restaurants: Showtime Cafe, 7th Floor near Bath Shop; Le Train Bleu, 6th Floor near Small Electrics & Calphalon; 59th & Lex Cafe, Mid Level next to Men's Suits; Forty Carrots, Metro Level near Marina Rinaldi.
