The Bonita Museum, along with the Bonita Historical Society, aim to preserve the culture and history of the Sweetwater Valley area of south San Diego County - an area that is now more commonly known as National City, Chula Vista, and Bonita. The community is welcome to come to the museum to view historical and contemporary artifacts, photographs, and other materials relating to the history of the area. Here is a place where kids can see the kinds of the implements used by their grandparents and how the city has changed.
The museum, recently re-located next to the new Bonita-Sunnyside County Library, has two sizable rooms. One of the rooms are dedicated to a permanent exhibit of artifacts and art reflecting the history of the area, and the other is used for thematic exhibits that change during the year.
The museum staff and volunteers also provide outreach programs and other educational events.
