Cowhands meander the boarded sidewalks, and guys in both white and black hats take over during the "shoot-'em-up" melodramas (starting at 11:30am; check the website for a current schedule) and, be forewarned, "hangings."
A petting zoo with a wide range of animals, horseback rides (children must be over six years old), a miniature train, stagecoaches, and the Bonnie Springs Ranch Restaurant tend to have the kids shoutin' "yee-haw!"

Consider pairing this excursion with one to the Red Rock Canyon Natural Conservation Area, which is nearby.
getting there:
Out of Las Vegas city center, follow Charleston Boulevard west for 25 miles. The ranch is 6 miles past the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center on the right-hand side. Look for the big wooden archway that says "Old Nevada."
