Boomer Beach

Located just below Scripps Park between Shell Beach and La Jolla Cove, Boomer's is accessible only if you scramble down a path of not-terribly-steep rocks. There are no lifeguards and some tricky currents, making it dangerous for little ones or inexperienced swimmers. It is, however, the best spot in San Diego for serious body surfing. Body boards are not allowed. The rocky access discourages many tourists, so it's a good spot for locals to go shell collecting.
