about Boston Harbor Islands:
Linking the inner and outer parts of Boston Harbor, and extending eleven miles from downtown Boston are the Boston Harbor Islands. It is a designated national park area, composed of thirty islands that range in size from less than an acre to 214 acres. Logan International Airport is located on Boston Harbor. Visitors can stop at one of two national park service information booths when planning a trip to any of the islands. An information kiosk staffed by park service rangers is located on Long Wharf next to the ferry ticket booth, across from the New England Aquarium. The National Park Area Discovery Center is located at Fan Pier at the U.S. Courthouse. Call 617.223.8666 to reach either location. Automobile access is not available to the Boston Harbor Islands. Passenger ferries link the islands to the mainland at several locations. The main Boston ferry departure point is at Long Wharf, adjacent to the New England Aquarium, and within a five-minute walk of Faneuil Hall Marketplace At Long Wharf, purchase ferry tickets from Boston Harbor Cruises. Ferries depart from Long Wharf hourly, 7 days a week, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. By car from the south, take Interstate 93 to exit 22 (Atlantic Avenue & Northern Avenue). Follow signs to Atlantic Avenue and the New England Aquarium. By car from the north, take Interstate 93 to exit 24 (Callahan Tunnel). Follow signs to Atlantic Avenue and the New England Aquarium.
