During the
Great Depression, the construction of the then-known Boulder Canyon Project was one of the few places Americans could find regular work. The
Boulder City & Hoover Dam Museum features three-dimensional, interactive displays and exhibits that describe the great social and economic forces surrounding the 1929 Stock Market Crash and Depression;
photographs, artifacts, and oral histories help visitors understand the complexity, danger, and immense scale of the construction project of what soon became known as the Hoover Dam. The museum - housed on the first floor of the
Boulder Dam Hotel - also has a
gift shop that sells a variety of historic, commemmeratives and collectible items.
