about Brackenridge Park:

The winner of our 2008 and 2009 Parents' Picks quest to find the best playground/park in San Antonio, Brackenridge Park covers 343 acres and houses a variety of popular attractions and outdoor activities. Facilities include The San Antonio Zoo and Aquarium, a miniature train that travels two-and-a-half miles around the park, pulled by a replica of an 1863 Central Pacific Huntington steam locomotive, and the Japanese Tea Gardens, also known as the Sunken Gardens.

The Park is also home to the Sunken Gardens Theatre, an outdoor theater that hosts concerts, theatrical presentations, and festivals. Recreational facilities, pedal boats, playgrounds, pavilions, picnic benches, and several miles of trails (jogging, hiking, biking) complete the picture.

The Witte Museum is located just outside the park.

Golfers are drawn to the par-72, 6,185-yard Brackenridge Golf Course, rumored to be the oldest 18-hole public golf course in the Lone Star State.
