My daughter and I took my grandson to get fitted for his first Stride Rite walker shoes. The store was quite busy with several families getting fitted with shoes. After signing-in it was a short wait until it was our turn. An older gentleman did our fitting. He tried several styles/sizes and explained the sizing system and the process to determine the correct size. He had my grandson stand on the floor and did another size check and seemed delighted at his reaction to his new shoes.
It was important to me that this first experience be a positive one and it was. We even had a photo opportunity to record the event.
There is one sales lady there who is really rude and totally mean. She might be the owner or manager because she is there all the time and she always yells at the store employees. But every employee seemed to have to ask her if there is a customer service related issue.
After your child tries on a few pairs of shoes, she would try to pressure you into purchasing the shoes. If you thought the fit or the look is not right, then she puts on more pressure. If you decided not to make a purchase, she became totally rude.
One time, I purchased the shoes, then found something I liked better at a different store. I called the store to confirm their return policy. She was really nasty about it. When I went to the store to make the return, it was unfortunate that she was there and there were no other customers in the store. She grilled me about the reason to return the shoes. It was like I offended her personally because I had changed my mind about the shoes.
One of my friends asked the store to add arch support to her daughter's shoe. Her daughter felt the arch support was not done correctly. When she called to ask about it, the mean lady got on the phone and was totally defensive about it and yelled at my friend.
She might be the only mean sales person in the store. But since you cannot choose you would help you and it is very unpleasant to have to deal with her, I would not go back there again.
