With eight picnic areas, seven gorges, two ballfields, and one golf course, this Cleveland Metroparks property has countless things for active kids and outdoor-loving families to enjoy.
The gorges offer numerous challenging hills for hikers; the 18-hole Sleepy Hollow Golf Course is a popular, challenging course (9445 Brecksville Road, just south of SR 82), with a driving range. The land is well-used, too; in the winter, part of the course is transformed into a sledding area.
The Brecksville Reservation Nature Center serves as visitor and education center, with lots of handy maps and often-updated touch-and-feel exhibits for visitors of all ages.
Summer camp programs are open to kids ages six to 11.
Inside the reservation (at 9367 Brecksville Road), the Brecksville Historical Society manages the Squire Rich Home and Museum, built in 1835 with walnut trees grown... right here. Call 440.526.7165 for hours and events, including a corn roast and apple butter festival each fall.
