The Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society (BECHS), founded in 1862, is one of the oldest regional historical societies in the country and the largest in Western New York. It preserves over 80,000 artifacts documenting the cultural heritage of the region.
The museum is located in the only remaining permanent structure from the Pan-American Exposition of 1901 and is recognized as a National Historic Landmark.
Tours, workshops, lectures, and educational programming for adults and children augment its exhibition schedule.
