Burr Oak Woods Conservation Nature Center is composed of 1,071 acres of woodlands, fields, and ponds and includes a scenic portion of Burr Oak Creek. The area features five trails ranging from a short nature walk to longer hikes through varied terrain. A 33-acre natural area with forested hillsides quickly drops as much as 100 feet while scattered limestone boulders and outcrops, with 8-foot-deep mazes through them, add interest to the area.
The interactive nature center at Burr Oak Woods showcases Missouri animals such as snakes, turtles, fish, and more. Through its interpreters, the nature center provides conservation and naturalist programming for all ages, including toddlers.
Trails are open daily, 7am-6pm and 7am-8pm during daylight savings time.
