California Park, which takes its name from adjacent California Avenue, boasts an impressive indoor sports complex, the first of its kind for the park district. The structure contains McFetridge Sports Center, a year-round ice rink for figure skating and hockey, as well as six tennis courts. The park offers indoor and outdoor tennis courts (for a fee). The handicapped softball field, basketball court, playground, outdoor pool, and paved bike and walking trails are for public use. The fees for use of the tennis courts varies. Monday through Friday from 7am to 4pm, the fee is $17 per hour; from 4pm to 10pm, $26 per hour; Saturday & Sunday from 7am to 7pm, $26 per hour; and 7pm to 11pm, $24 per hour.
