Surrounded by the hallowed halls of Harvard University, the Cambridge Common Playground is all about the pursuit of fun. This playground, renovated in 1990 and again in 2009, is geared for children ages one to ten. It is fully fenced and has a gate which locks. Only the craftiest of tikes can escape! A large, wooden climbing structure is the focus of a lot of activity. It is a little weathered but still in good shape. Children have lots of opportunities for imaginative play on bridges, slides, platforms with steering wheels, and more. The ground cover is mostly sand with a soft, spongy material surrounding the climbing structure. Would-be drivers will enjoy the wooden auto with rubber tires. Swings include three infant and one for older children. Benches surround the play area and are a welcome site for weary parents. A picnic table with benches is on-site if you'd like to pack a lunch or have a quick snack. The playground is a favorite of local preschools. You'll notice many different groups popping in and out during the day. Fortunately, there is enough space for everyone to play happily.
