About Carnegie Museum of Art

The winner of our 2008 Parents' Picks quest to find the Pittsburgh's Best Artsy Class for Big Kids, the Carnegie Museum of Art is home to a distinguished collection of contemporary art, including works of American art from the late nineteenth century, French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings, and European and American decorative arts.

The museum offers a variety of classes taught by artist-educators for kids ages five and up - including age-appropriate Home School Classes - as well as fun Preschool Play Dates that introduce children ages three to four to the museum. On the weekends, the museum offers art-making activities for kids and families that are free with paid admission. Free audio tours for kids, led by "Art Cat" (the museum's mascot for family programming) are also available.

Week-long sessions of Art and Architecture Camps for kids ages four to 13 and High School Workshops are available during the summer.

Tips

Admission includes same-day access to both the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.
