about Lake Casitas Water Adventure:
The Lake Casitas Water Adventure is a water park and recreation area offering several distinct water playgrounds for families, as well as a fully-loaded campground adjacent.
For the younger children, there's a multi-level aquatic jungle gym with waterfalls, bridges, and slides in a lagoon with water up to 18 inches deep.
The Lazy River offers the entire family a cool water ride on inner tubes along a scenic waterway featuring waterfalls, fog filled bridges, and jet sprays. Inner tubes are available as singles, doubles, or triples.
For the smallest of tots, a zero-depth pool sprays water from all angles, providing a safe, fun play area.
Certified lifeguards are on hand at all times, and locker rentals are available for a nominal fee. Shade structures are also available for rental.
Locals or families staying for a week or more might consider the Junior Lifeguard Program for kids ages 10 to 15. The program runs in July and costs only $100 per week. Grown-ups might enjoy the water fitness classes that are offered for $4 per session.
The park is open daily through the summer, but keeps weekend hours during some other parts of the year. Check the website for a complete schedule.
Consider booking a campsite and staying the night after the day in the waters; BBQ is available for take-out to eat by the campfire, and (for workaholic parents) WiFi internet is available at some camp sites. Options range from basic tent sites to luxury RV sites at several locations around the lake. There are three playgrounds interspersed among the areas.
Boat parking is available, and pets are allowed with a permit. Reservations are strongly recommended (available up to six months in advance); the campground is open Easter through Labor Day.
tips:
Casitas Water Adventure takes reservations for a charge of $7.50, which can be a good idea. The park often fills up on hot summer days, and the drive back to town with disappointed children is a thing to be avoided at all costs.
getting there:
From Los Angeles, take the 101 Freeway north to Ventura, then the 33 Freeway towards Ojai. Turn left onto Highway 150 (Baldwin Road), and go west approximately 3 miles. Turn left on Santa Ana Road. The park is located at Lake Casitas.
