Once (in the late 1800s) an aquarium, and before that an immigrant landing depot, restaurant and garden, and fort,
Castle Clinton is now a roofless Visitor's Center, located in
Battery Park, and holds a kiosk ticket outlet for
ferries to the
Statue of Liberty and
Ellis Island.
A 20-minute ranger-guided tour, offered daily at 10am, 12n, and 2pm, illustrates the colorful history of the site.
A bookstore and information desk are also located here, as well as a small diorama of the area in "olden times."
