The Cathedral of the Madeleine was built in 1909 and underwent a $9.7 million renovation in 1991. The cathedral is listed on both the Utah and National Registers of Historic Places.
Both the exterior and interior of the building is a feast for the eyes. The art and furnishings are inspired by the Spanish Gothic art of the Middle Ages.
A 4,066 pipe organ serves both liturgical and concert purposes, and several public concerts are performed at the cathedral throughout the year. Other events offered include the Madeleine Festival in the spring and the Eccles Organ Festival in the fall.
The cathedral's website has a complete schedule of arts events. The cathedral is open for self-guided tours Monday-Friday 8am-5:15pm. Check the website for information about worship times.
