A 45-minute tour of a tea factory might not be the first thing that pops into a parent's head when trying to figure out where to take the kids, but
Celestial Seasonings actually makes quite a lovely outing.
From the brief introductory video, you'll visit the art gallery (home of the original works that eventually became tea packaging, not to mention some interesting tea pots and cups), the herb garden, the busy factory (hair and beard nets mandatory, to the delight of kids everywhere), and the mint room (which contains enough eau de mint to clear 100 sets of sinuses in ten seconds flat).
The
Celestial Cafe offers soups, sandwiches, vegetarian items, and burgers, and free samples of the over 40 flavors of CS tea. The patio seating includes a great view of the continental divide and the Rockies.
The onsite
gift shop (there's no escaping it, the tour ends here) is a great place to pick up tea-related gifts, including discounted boxes of CS teas.
Children four and under are not permitted on the factory leg of the tour. Check out their
website for more tour specifics. Groups of eight or more require a reservation.
