CENTERSTAGE, named the State Theater of Maryland, offers smart, bold interpretations of both classic and contemporary plays.

There are a couple of family/student oriented programs, including Kickin' It with the 'Rents, student matinees, and student discounts. Kickin' It with the 'Rents is offered for one performance of each play, and features dinner and a discussion with CENTERSTAGE actors before the show for parents and their kids. Check the website for specific dates. Education programs for youth are designed to help young people explore their imaginations as writers, critics, audience members, and performers, and include internship, shadowing, and volunteer opportunities for students hoping to pursue a career in the performing arts.

If you've got younger kids look for the "Child's Play" performances, which offer theater-related games for children ages four to 10 (for less than a babysitter!) while you enjoy a Saturday matinee performance.
